INTERCULTURAL COUNSELLING

Intercultural Counselling is a relation of professional help for individuals coming from different linguistic and cultural realities. With this type of counselling relations are evaluated both on a personal and on a cultural level. The sessions aim at: raising awareness on own behavioural dynamics deriving from the collective, political and family contexts; exploring own communication skills deriving from those contexts; acknowledging how own cultural beliefs can influence the meaning attached to behaviours and actions; and remodelling own beliefs and attitudes according to the new contexts.

This modality of counselling can be particularly useful for issues related to:

  • cultural identity
  • culture shock
  • discrimination
  • integration
  • intercultural adaptation
  • prejudice

ACADEMIC COUNSELLING

Academic counselling is a relation of professional help for university students and members of staff. As a previous University Lecturer and as an Alumni, I know too well the demands and the pressure that this environment can place on individuals, let alone the pressure coming from self and others. The main aim of this type of support is to foster individuals’ lived experiences of studying or working in Academia.

This modality of counselling can be particularly useful for issues related to:

  • anxiety
  • expectations
  • motivation
  • procrastination
  • public speaking
  • stress

PET COUNSELING

Pet Counselling is a professional service of support for pet owners. The relation with our pets is a special one, and often not entirely understood by others. Our pets live positive and negative moments with us, without judging, but just being there providing us with their unconditional love and acceptance. For most of us they are our secure affective base. That is why their illness or death can be very unsettling and painful for pet owners. The main aim of this service is help individuals express freely their emotions for their pets while being understood and emotionally supported.

This service can be particularly useful for issues related to:
